Naperville steakhouses include Morton’s the Place for Steak, Sullivan’s Steakhouse and Jazz Bar for a white table cloth fine dining experience and two Outback Steakhouse’s are nearby. One on Ogden Avenue and one in Wheaton for a more casual steak-fix. Texas Roadhouse located on Patriot also has a great offering of steaks for a reasonable price. It’s a peanut on the floor kind of place but great fun for groups.
In the 18th century the Spanish and French colonists began to raise cattle which had been brought to North America via Mexico in 1540 by the Spanish. Steaks were not an important part of the American diet until the Civil War. In 1871 a meatpacker form Detroit named G.H. Hanharmand sent refrigerated rail cars to the west and meat packing plants were built through-out the Midwest for the shipping of beef to the east where demand was high. After World War II Americans consumption of beef was a symbol of affluence. The 1980’s were to be a time when red meat was less popular but the explosion of steakhouses in the 1990’s seem to argue this. Today, steakhouses like the ones in Naperville are an example of the many choices available to steak lovers across the country.
